Proverbs 28:24 Meaning Whoever Robs His Father or His Mother

Whoever robs his father or his mother and says, “It’s not wrong,” is a partner with a destroyer.

What does Proverbs 28:24 mean?

To take from the father or the mother and call it nothing is the ego's oldest habit, for it robs its own source of love and then denies that anything was taken. The mind that does this treats the very ground of its being as something to plunder, and the small lie that follows is fear pretending it has no guilt to hide.

To take from the father or the mother and call it nothing is the ego's oldest habit, for it robs its own source of love and then denies that anything was taken. The mind that does this treats the very ground of its being as something to plunder, and the small lie that follows is fear pretending it has no guilt to hide.

Such a mind keeps company with the destroyer, which is only the ego itself, the belief in separation that undoes everything it touches. Yet the remedy is never punishment. It is the honest sight that this taking was a figure in a dream, so the guilt can be laid down and the source recognized as whole and giving still.

Father: the loving source within the mind from which the self draws its being, treated by fear as something to take from rather than to receive Mother: the tender origin the mind was born of, the nearer face of the same source that guilt teaches it to plunder and deny

  1. If you borrowed money, time, or patience from your parents and told yourself it did not count, write it down tonight in your notes app, just one plain line, with no excuse attached.
  2. Call or text whoever you quietly took something from and say the simple true thing: I took that and I never admitted it. Do not add a defense or a story, just let the sentence stand.
  3. When someone catches you in a small thing today and your chest tightens to explain, stay quiet for one breath and then say you were wrong. The urge to cover is the whole weight, not the thing itself.

What small taking have I been calling nothing, and what would it cost me to simply say it out loud?
