Proverbs 28:6 Meaning Better Is the Poor Who Walks

Better is the poor who walks in his integrity, than he who is perverse in his ways, and he is rich.

What does Proverbs 28:6 mean?

The mind measures its worth by the wrong scale when it counts what it has gathered instead of which teacher it walks with. A self that feels it owns little yet moves in honesty is nearer to peace than one heaped with gain who moves crookedly, twisting each step to serve fear.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The mind measures its worth by the wrong scale when it counts what it has gathered instead of which teacher it walks with. A self that feels it owns little yet moves in honesty is nearer to peace than one heaped with gain who moves crookedly, twisting each step to serve fear. What is stored up in the world settles nothing about the mind, for guilt can grow rich and remain frightened.

Uprightness here is not spotless behavior but the simple choice to keep to love without pretense. To walk that way, however empty the hands, is to be already whole, while all the getting in the world leaves a divided mind still divided.

The poor: the mind that seems to hold little yet walks in honesty, so near to peace because it keeps to love without pretense The rich man: the self heaped with worldly gain yet moving crookedly, proof that possession settles nothing while the mind still serves fear

  1. Before you open the app that shows you other people's lives, name one thing you already have that you would not trade. Keep the number in your own hands instead of borrowing someone else's scoreboard.
  2. Tell one person the plain truth today in a place where a small shading would have been easier, about a deadline, a mistake, a price. The relief of not managing a story is worth more than the point you gave up.
  3. When a shortcut at work would get you the result and cost someone else quietly, take the slower road. Nobody will clap, and you will still be able to sit with yourself at the end of the day.

Which scale am I actually using today to decide whether I am doing well?

Wealth is not having more things, it is wanting less of what you cannot keep. A rich man in constant fear of loss is simply poor with better furniture.

To know when you have enough is to be truly rich. The one who keeps grasping stays hungry no matter how full the house gets.
