CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The ego reads correction as proof of anger, evidence that one is guilty and about to be cast out. Love reverses the meaning entirely. Correction comes because a mind is cherished, not condemned, for only what is held in delight is worth the patience of being gently set right.

The father here is not a judge weighing sentences but the tenderness within the mind that would see its own straying self restored. A mind loved this way is never punished; it is delighted in, and the correction it receives is simply love refusing to leave it lost in fear.

Father: the tender part of the mind that corrects out of delight rather than judgment, the gentle teacher who cherishes what it mends Son: the straying self held dear and gently restored, the beloved mind that love will not abandon to its fear

CYBERNETICS

Cybernetics

Correction and delight travel together here, not as opposites but as one motion, the way a father who cherishes his son bothers to set him straight. A man who was never corrected learns that no one was watching closely enough to care. The adjustment itself is a form of being valued.

When a person feels prized rather than judged, feedback stops registering as rejection. The self-image can absorb the note without collapsing. Being corrected by love is how a person comes to know he is loved.

  1. Think of the person who tells you hard things. Send them a message today saying you are glad they do.
  2. When you have to say something difficult to someone, lead with the fact that you care about them, and let them hear it before the hard part.
  3. Next time a correction stings, pause before you defend yourself and ask whether this is someone trying to lose you or someone trying not to.

Who has corrected you out of love, and did you ever hear it that way?
