Proverbs 31:25 · World English Bible
Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come.
What she truly wears is character. Strength and honor clothe her the way a garment does, meaning they are worn openly for all to see, formed over years of faithful living.

PROTESTANT
What she truly wears is character. Strength and honor clothe her the way a garment does, meaning they are worn openly for all to see, formed over years of faithful living.
Because her life rests on that solid foundation, she can face the future without fear. A person grounded in godly character has real reason for hope, and can even laugh at the days ahead, trusting that what comes is held in God's hands.

CATHOLIC
The finest thing she wears is her character. Inner strength and a good name cover her better than any fabric, and these come from a life shaped by God over many years. Such virtue is not luck; it is grown, choice by choice, day by day.
Because of this she can face the future without dread. A soul rooted in God carries a settled joy that hard times cannot steal, a confidence that the best is still ahead.

ORTHODOX
The truest garment a person wears is not fabric but the character formed within, a strength and dignity given by God to those who walk with him. Clothed this way, the soul can face the future without fear, because its hope rests on the One who does not change.
This joy in time to come reaches past this life toward the age to come, the life with God that death cannot touch. Build your inner life on him, and you gain a peace the years cannot wear away. What God weaves into the heart lasts.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
Real strength is not the ego's armor against a threatening world but the quiet steadiness of a mind that has laid down its need to attack. What the ego calls power is only fear tightened into a fist, while true strength is what remains when there is nothing left to defend.
Such a mind can meet the future without dread because it has stopped populating tomorrow with enemies. A mind that has forgiven has nothing coming toward it but more of the peace it has already chosen, and so it can rejoice at what has not yet arrived.

EGO & BEING
Most people wrap themselves in things that decay, hoping the outer layer will make them feel secure. Her true garment is an inner strength that no circumstance can strip away, because it does not come from the world. It comes from a quiet presence beneath all doing.
So when the future finally arrives, she meets it laughing. She does not fear what is coming, because she is not living in an imagined tomorrow. Her joy is possible now, and it will still be here later, because it never depended on what later would bring.

PSYCHOANALYSIS
Her real garments are not the silk and purple of before but qualities that have grown into her over years. Strength and dignity are worn like a second skin because she has earned them from within.
Wholeness carries a quiet gladness about the future. The person who has done the long work of becoming herself does not dread what is coming. She can laugh at the days ahead because she has already met her own hard seasons and knows she can stand. Her joy rests on what she has become, not on what she hopes will happen.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
Strength here is not the loud kind. It is the accumulated weight of a life lived responsibly, worn so habitually that it becomes part of how a person appears to others. When you have carried your burdens well for long enough, the carrying itself begins to show, and people sense it before you say a word.
The joy that comes later is the reward specifically reserved for those who paid in advance. She can face what is coming with something close to gladness because she has nothing to hide from and little to regret. That kind of confidence cannot be borrowed or performed; it is the direct result of having done the hard things when they were hard.

BUDDHISM
Sīla: Ethical strength as adornment
Strength and honor worn as clothing are the character she has built, a covering no thief can strip away. Unlike silk, this garment is woven of how she has lived. Good conduct clothes a person more surely than any cloth, and it never wears thin.
Bala: Inner strength
The strength she wears is a steadiness of mind that hard days cannot topple, firmness rather than muscle. It is what lets a person stand upright when the ground shakes. Worn daily, such strength becomes as natural as a favorite coat.
Khanti: Patient endurance
Strength that lasts long enough to become clothing is patience seasoned by many trials, the quiet toughness of one who has waited out storms. Endurance is what turns raw strength into something you can rely on. The person who has learned to bear things wears calm like a well-fitted cloak.
Pīti: Gladness
Her rejoicing in time to come is a settled gladness, a lightness that rises from a life well lived rather than a gamble on good fortune. Joy grown from clean conduct needs no lucky turn to sustain it. She can smile toward the future the way one smiles at a road already walked with care.
Anāgata: The time yet to come
She rejoices at time to come because she has met the future by preparing for it, not by fearing it. The days that have not arrived hold no dread for a mind at ease with itself. Facing tomorrow, she meets it as a guest already made welcome.

CYBERNETICS
Strength and honor are described as clothing because they have become part of how she sees herself, worn as naturally as a garment. This inner picture is what lets her rejoice about a future she cannot yet see.
The automatic mechanism inside us aims toward the images we hold most strongly. A person who pictures tomorrow as friendly, and herself as equal to it, moves through today without dread. She can smile at the years ahead because her imagination has already met them with quiet confidence.

SUFISM
Her real clothing is inner strength and steady dignity, and because of it she can smile at whatever the future holds. This calm does not come from being sure the days ahead will be easy. It comes from a heart settled so deeply that fear of tomorrow loses its grip.
The disease is anxious grasping, the endless worry that tries to control what has not yet come. The cure is to build inner steadiness now through honest living and trust, so the mirror of the heart stays clear. When it is clear, the unknown future no longer frightens you, and you can meet it with a quiet smile.

SUFISM
Strength and dignity are worn like a garment here, not earned like a wage, and once you see them as clothing you understand her laughter. She is not laughing because tomorrow is safe. She is laughing because she is already covered by something steadier than tomorrow.
Every inner quality a person seems to own is really a robe placed on them by the One who is Himself unshakable. She has let that steadiness settle over her until it looks like her own. When she laughs at the days ahead, the Peace that fears nothing is showing itself in her, and her calm tells anyone watching that the future belongs to its Maker, not to their dread.

HINDUISM
The world once faced total ruin from a poison churned up from the sea. It could burn all of creation. Shiva simply drank it. He held it in his throat, which turned blue, and so he is called Neelkanth, "the blue-throated one." He did not flinch at the end of the world. He is the Atman, pure awareness, and no ending can reach it. He met catastrophe and stayed calm.
Her strength and dignity are this same steadiness. Her laughter at the future is the fearlessness of awareness that cannot die.
A dark thought arises. "What if the days ahead bring loss and pain?" The mind grabs it. Samskaras, the grooves of old fear, paint a whole frightening future. It feels heavy and sure. Yet you can watch the dread of tomorrow rise and pass. The watcher was never born and will never end. That watcher is Shiva, awareness itself. To laugh at the time to come is to rest as that deathless self, clothed in a strength the future cannot touch.

AWARENESS
Her real clothing is not cloth but an inner condition, strength and dignity that no one handed her and no one can strip away. This is what remains when the ego's borrowed costumes fall off and the watching presence stands clear.
And she laughs at tomorrow. Fear of the future is the mind projecting its shadows forward; laughter is what happens when a person is so fully in this moment that tomorrow loses its grip. A man rooted in the present does not brace against what is coming, and out of that ease a natural celebration rises.

SELF-HELP
The way a person carries themselves is not a mask over their state; it becomes their state. A woman clothed in strength and dignity had trained herself into that posture until it was who she was, and from that place she could laugh at the future instead of bracing against it. Her confidence was earned, not pretended.
Emotion follows the body and the meaning a person assigns, and both can be chosen. When someone decides to stand in strength and read tomorrow as an ally, fear loses its grip and the future feels like something to meet, not something to survive.
Protestant lens
If next year arrived tomorrow, what would you want already built in you?
No one can take your character from you, and it is the only thing you truly carry. Build that and the future loses its grip on you.
What you do and think, repeated, becomes who you are. Your acts follow you the way a shadow follows a walker.
Mastering yourself is real strength. The one who is settled from the inside is not shaken by what arrives from the outside.
