Proverbs 4:3 Meaning For I Was a Son

For I was a son to my father, tender and an only child in the sight of my mother.

What does Proverbs 4:3 mean?

Before it learned to be afraid, the mind knew itself as wholly loved, tender and cherished and lacking nothing. This is not a memory of childhood but the memory of what a mind is beneath the ego's later story of guilt and separation.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Before it learned to be afraid, the mind knew itself as wholly loved, tender and cherished and lacking nothing. This is not a memory of childhood but the memory of what a mind is beneath the ego's later story of guilt and separation. What was beloved in the sight of love is still beloved, for that seeing never changed; only the frightened self forgot it.

The teaching that heals is always this reminder, that the mind was innocent from the start and remains the treasured creation of love even now.

Father: the loving Source the mind comes from, the origin that gives strength and belonging Mother: the tenderness that first held the mind, love's own gaze that saw it as cherished and complete

Live Proverbs 4:3 today

  1. Look at a photo of yourself as a small kid today and let it be obvious that nothing was wrong with that person. Nothing has been added since that makes you less loveable.
  2. Tell someone in your family or a close friend one plain, warm thing you have never said out loud to them. Not an achievement of theirs, just that they are dear to you.
  3. When you are being judged today, a review, a group chat going cold, a comment under something you made, remind yourself quietly that this is not a verdict on what you are. You were loved before any of these people had an opinion.

If I were already cherished exactly as I am, what would I stop trying to prove today?
