Proverbs 6:15 Meaning Therefore His Calamity Will Come Suddenly

Therefore his calamity will come suddenly. He will be broken suddenly, and that without remedy.

What does Proverbs 6:15 mean?

The ruin that seems to fall from outside is the belief in separation collapsing under its own weight, for a system built on guilt carries its undoing within it and needs no outside blow. It breaks suddenly because illusions hold only while they are believed, and the instant belief is withdrawn the whole structure has nothing left to stand on.

The words without remedy frighten only the ego, which hears its own dissolution. To the mind that has changed teachers it is release, the quiet discovery that the frightening figure was made of nothing, and nothing is exactly what is lost when it goes.

Calamity: the collapse of the ego's world, the belief in separation falling under a weight it built itself Broken without remedy: the final undoing of an illusion, which cannot be repaired because there was never anything real there to mend

  1. When a plan of yours falls apart today, even a small one, let it fall rather than scrambling to defend it. See what is actually left standing when you stop holding it up.
  2. If someone shows you that you were wrong about something, say so simply and let the position go. The relief on the other side of that is immediate and real.
  3. Under pressure, when you feel yourself bracing to protect how you look, drop the bracing for one breath. What breaks there was never you, and you will still be there afterward.

It says what is hard and rigid breaks, while what is soft and yielding endures. A thing held too stiffly carries its own cracking inside it.

Everything made of parts comes apart. Seeing that clearly is not bad news, it is the end of needing to prop things up.

He reminded himself that all things pass and change shape, so nothing worth his peace could be lost when a structure he built finally came down.
