Proverbs 6:22 Meaning When You Walk

When you walk, it will lead you. When you sleep, it will watch over you. When you awake, it will talk with you.

What does Proverbs 6:22 mean?

There is a Guide within the mind that does not sleep when the mind sleeps and does not fall silent when the mind is confused. Whatever the state of the one who carries it, walking through the day, lost in the dream of night, or coming again to itself, this quiet Voice remains, steady and always near.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

There is a Guide within the mind that does not sleep when the mind sleeps and does not fall silent when the mind is confused. Whatever the state of the one who carries it, walking through the day, lost in the dream of night, or coming again to itself, this quiet Voice remains, steady and always near. A mind that has once heard it learns that it is never left to its own fear.

The going, the sleeping, the waking are not three places but one mind in its shifting weathers, and to each of them the same answer is given. What keeps a mind safe is not vigilance against the world but the companionship it can turn to in any hour. Whatever changes in you, the loving Teacher does not change, and it waits only to be asked.

It: the inner Voice for love, the Guide that walks with the mind through waking, sleep, and its confused returns, never absent whatever the mind is doing.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

There is a presence that leads you when you walk, keeps you while you sleep, and speaks with you the moment you wake. It is with you in every state because it is not a possession you carry from place to place. It is what you are.

People search for guidance as though it were far off, hidden in some distant teaching or waiting in a future moment. Yet this presence never leaves you, in movement or in stillness, in sleeping or in waking, because it is the awareness that is always already here. You do not reach it by searching in the distance. You come to it by growing still and noticing what has been present the whole time.

AWARENESS

Indian Guru

Something taken in as a rule must be remembered; something understood becomes part of you and needs no remembering. A father telling his son to bind it on his heart is pointing at that difference. Rules kept in the memory sleep when you sleep. Awareness does not sleep; the body rests, the mind falls silent, and the watching continues.

Walk, and it moves with you without instruction. Wake, and it speaks before thought begins its noise. A borrowed morality cannot do this, because no one is home inside it; it works only while you remember to hold it up.

Live Proverbs 6:22 today

  1. First thing tomorrow, before the phone, sit for one minute and simply be where you are. Not to get something, just to see that you were not alone overnight.
  2. When someone tells you they have been lying awake worrying, do not rush to fix it. Stay with them a minute, so they feel what steady company is like.
  3. In the middle of a hard afternoon, a difficult call, a deadline, a sick kid, stop for one breath and ask inwardly for help. The asking is the whole move.

What would change if I stopped bracing and remembered that I am accompanied?

The Self abides in everyone as a steady witness, present through waking, dreaming and deep sleep alike. It does not come and go with your moods.

The Tao is in everything and never withdraws. It does not wait for you to be clear-headed before it holds you.

The friend you are looking for has been with you the whole time, closer than your own breath, asking only to be turned toward.
