Proverbs 8:16 Meaning By Me Princes Rule

By me princes rule, nobles, and all the righteous rulers of the earth.

What does Proverbs 8:16 mean?

Every faculty in a mind that seems to rule or to weigh and decide is borrowing its office from love, whether or not it knows the lender. The ego sets up little judges everywhere, each one appraising, condemning, sorting the world into threat and safety, and each believes its power is its own.

Christian Psychology

Every faculty in a mind that seems to rule or to weigh and decide is borrowing its office from love, whether or not it knows the lender. The ego sets up little judges everywhere, each one appraising, condemning, sorting the world into threat and safety, and each believes its power is its own. Yet nothing judges rightly except the quiet voice within, which looks on everyone and sees the innocent.

A mind that lets that voice preside no longer sentences the world it sees. It stops handing down verdicts of guilt and begins to overlook, and in that gentleness it discovers the only authority that was ever real.

Princes: the ruling thoughts that carry a mind's chosen direction outward Nobles: the higher faculties a mind honors and follows as it moves Judges of the earth: every part of the mind that weighs and condemns, the courtroom the ego builds to keep guilt alive

  1. Walk through the grocery store once without ranking anyone you pass. It is a small thing and it quietly changes who you are in a public room.
  2. Before you reply to a message that annoyed you, think of one reading of it that is not an insult. Answer that version instead.
  3. When a name comes up at work and the verdicts start, stay out of it or say the one good true thing you know about them. You do not have to be a judge just because the courtroom is open.

Stop weighing everything as good or bad for a moment and see what is actually in front of you. The mind that has quit sorting sees clearly for the first time.

What you call beautiful another calls plain, and what you call right another calls wrong. Your verdicts describe you, not the world.

Out past the field of right and wrong there is a place to meet, and anyone who has stood there knows how small the quarrel was.
