CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

There is a calling in the mind that is quieter than fear yet never leaves. While guilt argues that the self is separate and small, another voice keeps addressing the whole of it, every thought, without exception. This is the reach of love, which does not single out the worthy or pass over the fallen. It speaks to the mind exactly as it is, and it asks only to be heard again.

A mind that has been listening to attack all day still carries this second speaker underneath, offering a gentler account of what it is. Nothing has to be earned first. The call is already there; it waits only for the mind to turn and answer it.

Live Proverbs 8:4 today

  1. Sometime today, turn off the music or the podcast for five minutes of your walk or drive. Not to accomplish anything, just to let the quieter thing get a word in.
  2. With the next person you talk to, stay with them one beat past where you would normally jump in. The thing worth hearing usually comes after the pause.
  3. On a hard day when your head has been running you down for hours, say to yourself plainly that the harsh running commentary is not the only voice in the room. You do not have to argue with it, just turn your ear somewhere else.

If something kinder has been speaking all day, when was I last quiet enough to catch it?

The quiet in you asks nothing and excludes no one. It does not wait for you to become worthy before it is already yours.
