Psalms 125:1 Meaning Those Who Trust in Yahweh Are

Those who trust in Yahweh are as Mount Zion, which can’t be moved, but remains forever.

What does Psalms 125:1 mean?

Beneath the noise of thinking there is a stillness that was never born and cannot die. When a person rests their weight on that living presence instead of on shifting opinions and outcomes, something in them settles like a mountain.

Ego v. Being

Beneath the noise of thinking there is a stillness that was never born and cannot die. When a person rests their weight on that living presence instead of on shifting opinions and outcomes, something in them settles like a mountain. The winds of praise and blame still blow across the surface, yet the ground itself does not stir.

Most people build their sense of who they are out of circumstances, so every change shakes them. Trust means leaning on what does not come and go. That deep aliveness stays. The weather only passes over it. What remains once the storm is gone is the part of a person that was never touched by it.

Live Psalms 125:1 today

  1. When a compliment or a bit of criticism lands today, let yourself feel it and then watch it pass, without rebuilding your whole self around either one.
  2. If someone close to you is in a storm, be the steady ground rather than another wave. You do not have to match their weather to be with them.
  3. On the day the numbers are bad or the news at work is hard, put your attention on your breathing for a few breaths before you decide anything. Let the part of you that is not shaking do the choosing.

If my circumstances changed completely tomorrow, who would still be here?

Praise and blame both pass through. The one rooted in the way is not raised by the first or lowered by the second.
