Psalms 132:14 Meaning This Is My Resting Place Forever

This is my resting place forever. I will live here, for I have desired it.

What does Psalms 132:14 mean?

There is a place that asks nothing of you, where the restless movement of wanting comes to stillness. It is not a location in the world but this very moment, the only ground on which life ever touches you.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

There is a place that asks nothing of you, where the restless movement of wanting comes to stillness. It is not a location in the world but this very moment, the only ground on which life ever touches you. When you stop reaching into an imagined future, you discover you were always standing in your true home.

What you most deeply long for is not another experience but rest itself, the peace of simply being here. You do not travel to reach it. You return to it the moment your attention comes back from the future to the present, where your life is actually happening.

  1. Next time you catch yourself scrolling for something better than this, close the app and stay in the room for two minutes. Feel the chair, the light, the sound of the fridge. This is the life you kept scrolling past.
  2. At dinner, with your family or a friend, drop the plan for how the evening should go. Let the conversation be as dull or as good as it actually is, and stay in it anyway.
  3. Stuck in traffic or a slow grocery line, stop treating the wait as time stolen from you. Let your shoulders down, look at the sky or the person ahead of you, and be where you already are.

What are you waiting for before you let yourself feel at home?

Zen

The student asks where the way is. The teacher says: your ordinary mind, right here, is the way. There is nowhere to get to.

Buddhism

Craving is the ache for the next moment. Let the reaching go and what remains is peace, which was never missing, only overlooked.

You can step out of the noise at any moment and come back to yourself. The quiet place you keep looking for is already inside you.
