Psalms 139:18 Meaning If I Would Count Them

If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you.

What does Psalms 139:18 mean?

The mind loves to count and measure, adding thought to thought as if life could be grasped through accumulation. But that which sustains you cannot be numbered, for it is not a thing among things.

Ego v. Being

The mind loves to count and measure, adding thought to thought as if life could be grasped through accumulation. But that which sustains you cannot be numbered, for it is not a thing among things. It is the formless source from which every moment arises, more constant than the sand beneath your feet.

To awaken is to notice that this presence never left. It was here beneath your sleep, beneath your endless thinking, waiting quietly for your attention. When you grow still and truly aware, you find that Being was with you all along, and you were simply too lost in thought to feel it.

  1. Before you pick up your phone in the morning, sit on the edge of the bed for one minute and feel yourself be awake. No plan, no feed, just here first.
  2. Stop counting the score in one relationship today, who called last, who owes who. Show up and give what you have without keeping the ledger.
  3. When your mind starts stacking the day into an impossible list, put the list down and do the one thing in front of you. The pile was always a thought, not the day.

What have you been trying to count that was never countable?
