Psalms 15:1 Meaning Yahweh

Yahweh, who shall dwell in your sanctuary? Who shall live on your holy hill?

What does Psalms 15:1 mean?

The holy hill, the sacred dwelling place, is not a location somewhere above you. It is the dimension of presence within, the stillness at the center of your own Being, and the true question is who can remain there.

Ego v. Being

The holy hill, the sacred dwelling place, is not a location somewhere above you. It is the dimension of presence within, the stillness at the center of your own Being, and the true question is who can remain there.

To abide is more than a fleeting glimpse of peace. It is to live continuously as awareness itself, no longer dragged away by every passing thought and emotion. The one who dwells in that stillness is the one who has stopped identifying with the noise of the mind and rests instead in the silence beneath it. That is what it means to make your home in the sacred place.

  1. Pick one everyday thing you do alone, washing dishes, walking to the car, waiting for the kettle, and do it without a podcast in your ears. Let the stillness be the point, not a gap to fill.
  2. When you are with someone and your attention starts drifting to your phone, leave it in your pocket and stay where you are. Being fully in the room with another person is the same stillness, just shared.
  3. In traffic or a slow checkout line, when the irritation rises, feel your feet or your hands on the wheel for a few breaths. You are not waiting for your life to resume, this is it.

Can you stay in that quiet place for one more breath than usual?

Zen

The moon is reflected in every puddle, but the moon never left the sky. Come home to the place you never actually left.

Upanishads

In the small space within the heart there is room for the whole sky. The dwelling you are looking for has no outside.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

People go looking for quiet in the mountains and by the sea, when at any hour they can turn inward and find it. Nowhere is calmer than your own soul.
