Ego v. Being

The meek are not the weak. They are those who no longer need to assert and defend a self, who have laid down the endless demands of the ego. Because they are not forever grasping for more, they can finally be satisfied by what is already here.

To seek in the deepest sense is not to search the world for the next acquisition. It is to turn inward and rest in the aliveness of your own presence. When you find that, you touch the dimension in you that time cannot reach. The heart lives forever not because the body endures, but because at your core is an awareness that time cannot touch.

Live Psalms 22:26 today

  1. Eat one meal today with nothing on a screen. Taste it, feel the warmth of the cup, and let the meal be the whole event instead of the background to something else.
  2. In one conversation, let someone else have the last word without correcting it. You will feel the pull to defend yourself, and you will also feel the relief when you do not.
  3. When a scroll or an ad or a coworker's news makes you feel behind, pause and look around at what is already in front of you. Nothing has to be added for this minute to be enough.

Where have you been chasing more when what you actually want is to stop needing it?

Tao Te Ching 33

The one who knows enough is rich. Having more is not the same as needing less.

Stoicism · Epictetus

Wealth is not a large pile of possessions but a small pile of wants.

Upanishads

What you are searching for in the world is already the awareness doing the searching. Turn the attention around and the hunger quiets.
