Psalms 24:7 Meaning Lift Up Your Heads

Lift up your heads, you gates! Be lifted up, you everlasting doors, and the King of glory will come in.

What does Psalms 24:7 mean?

The gates and doors are the openings of the human head, the portals of perception through which higher consciousness enters, and they are called to raise themselves so the greater life may pass in. To lift up the head is to raise consciousness itself, to elevate the whole state of awareness at the crown until it becomes a passage rather than a wall.

These doors are everlasting because they belong to the eternal structure of the inner man, always present, only waiting to be opened.

The King of glory is the divine self, the ruling light of pure being, and it comes in the moment the openings above are lifted to receive it. When a person raises awareness to its highest point, the deepest life within enters the head as through an opened gate.

  1. Before you unlock your phone in the morning, sit for one minute with your head level and your eyes soft, and let the first thing that comes in be something other than a feed.
  2. When someone starts talking to you today, lift your face from the screen and look at them before you answer. Let them be the thing that comes in.
  3. In a tense meeting or a slow grocery line, feel the top of your head and the air on your face for three breaths, and let your shoulders drop instead of your chin.

The gateless gate: there is no barrier to pass, only a looking that has to open. What stands in the way is the stance of the one looking, not a wall.

The crown, Keter, sits above the mind as the opening where the limitless pours into a person. The work is not to build it but to stop blocking it.
