Psalms 26:8 Meaning Yahweh
Yahweh, I love the habitation of your house, the place where your glory dwells.

Psalms 26:8 · World English Bible
Yahweh, I love the habitation of your house, the place where your glory dwells.
Love of a holy place can curdle into a subtler pride, loving the building, the belonging, the being seen there, more than the One it was built to hold. The cure is to test the love honestly, to ask whether the heart wants the house or the glory living in it, and keep choosing the second.

SUFISM
Love of a holy place can curdle into a subtler pride, loving the building, the belonging, the being seen there, more than the One it was built to hold. The cure is to test the love honestly, to ask whether the heart wants the house or the glory living in it, and keep choosing the second.
The true dwelling is not stone. A heart swept clean becomes the room where the glory rests, the way a lamp is only a place for the flame. What is loved in the house is really the Light that lit it, nearer than the walls.
Sufism lens
Do you love the room, or what the room was built to hold?
The usefulness of a room is in the empty space, not in the walls that shape it. What is built matters only for what it holds.
The teaching keeps pointing past the temple and the robes to the thing they were meant to serve. Mistaking the finger for the moon is the standard warning.
The texts speak of the dwelling in the cave of the heart, closer than anything outward. The real place is interior.
