Psalms 27:3 Meaning Though an Army Should Encamp Against Me
Though an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident.

Psalms 27:3 · World English Bible
Though an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident.
A settled self-image holds its shape even when trouble surrounds it. The army pitched outside changes nothing about the inner picture, because the fear that would normally rise finds no soft place to land.

CYBERNETICS
A settled self-image holds its shape even when trouble surrounds it. The army pitched outside changes nothing about the inner picture, because the fear that would normally rise finds no soft place to land. Confidence here is not the absence of the threat but a steadiness the threat cannot reach.
What a person believes about himself in the quiet decides how he stands in the storm. Fixed inside, the siege stays outside. The heart that refuses to rehearse defeat keeps its calm while war gathers at the edges.

SELF-HELP
Fear and confidence are the same skill, and all that changes is which unseen future a person makes certain.
Certainty about an outcome nobody can yet see is a single faculty, and a man braced for ruin is running it at full strength. Rehearsing a siege before dawn builds a picture his body cannot distinguish from the event, and that picture sets his state, the state sets his emotion, and the emotion decides whether he holds ground or negotiates his defeat in advance.
Fixing the heart on the LORD as light and salvation asks for no ability he lacks, only that he quit aiming the one he already has at the thing he dreads. It costs him the grim comfort of having braced early, and it puts him into action while the outcome is still open.
Cybernetics lens
Who are you in the quiet, when nothing is coming at you?
It is not events that disturb us but our judgments about them. The army can camp where it likes; what you think of yourself stays yours.
Water holds its nature whatever it meets. Pressed on all sides, it still moves as water, because what it is was never up for negotiation.
Wind crosses the surface and the depth does not move. Trouble gathers at the edges of a settled mind without entering it.
