Psalms 31:22 Meaning As for Me

As for me, I said in my haste, “I am cut off from before your eyes.” Nevertheless you heard the voice of my petitions when I cried to you.

Self-Help

A verdict issued in panic tells you the state you were in, not the truth about where you stand.

A state manufactures conclusions shaped like itself. The conclusion that God had stopped looking arrived carrying the full weight of fact, though only panic had tested it. Left alone, that certainty sets despair, despair ends the asking, and a person who stops asking never collects the evidence that would overturn the sentence.

Crying out anyway is what broke the fence, because action taken against a belief is the only thing that tests it. God heard, and that answer becomes a reference a person owns, ready the next time pressure hands down the same verdict. Skip the record keeping and the same untested sentence gets accepted again at every hard hour, and the range of what gets attempted shrinks each round.

  1. When your mind announces that it is all over, write the sentence down and date it, then read it back in two days and see how it holds up.
  2. Text or call the one person you least feel like bothering while you are low, because the verdict in your head gets quieter the second someone else is in the room.
  3. In the middle of the worst of it, send the message or make the ask you think is pointless. Acting against the conclusion is the only thing that ever tests it.

What has panic told me about my life that later turned out to be flatly untrue?
