What does Psalms 33:2 mean?

The body itself is the instrument tuned to sound the higher note. The harp is the human frame strung with nerve and feeling, made to vibrate in praise when the inner life is in tune, and singing is the whole being set to one clear resonance. The instrument of 10 strings names the number 10, the full complement of a person's faculties, the complete set of powers all brought into harmony so that nothing in the self is out of pitch. To play upon it is to have every part of one's nature vibrating together toward the source.

Worship here is not words but a tuned body. When all 10 of a person's powers are strung right and sounded together, the whole self becomes the music, and the person is the harp answering the hand that made it.

  2. Eat one meal today with the people you live with and no screens on the table, and let the talking and the eating go at the same pace.
  3. When a day goes loud and fast, stand up, let your breath go all the way down, and let your body set the tempo again instead of your inbox.

The body is the instrument, not an obstacle. Sitting straight, breathing easy, the whole person becomes one note instead of many.
