CYBERNETICS

Cybernetics

When a person aims at a worthy goal and trusts the process, his steps fall into order the way a guided mechanism finds its target. No stride needs plotting in advance. The LORD orders the steps, and the path arranges itself as he moves along it.

The delight comes from the way itself, not only from the destination. A man in step with his own direction feels the road agree with him under his feet. That ease is the sign that the inner machinery is doing its quiet work, carrying him toward the aim he set.

Live Psalms 37:23 today

  1. Do the next small thing on your list without rehearsing the whole week. One step, then look up.
  2. When someone asks you for help today, take that as the next step rather than an interruption to your real plan.
  3. In the middle of a packed day, ask only what the next fifteen minutes need. The rest will be there when you get to it, and it usually sorts itself better than the plan you were going to force.

What would today feel like if I only had to see one step ahead?

Tao Te Ching 64

A long journey begins and continues one step at a time, and the road appears as you walk it. No need to map every stride first.

Zen proverb

Chop wood, carry water. The way is not somewhere past this task, it is this task.
