EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

To wait upon the source of life is not passive weakness. It is the deep stillness of surrender, the release of the mind's endless grasping. Those consumed by wanting, forever reaching for the next thing, are cut off, not by punishment but by their own restlessness, which severs them from the peace that is always here.

To wait, to be still, to rest in the present, is to come home to Being. This is what it means to inherit the earth: not to conquer it but to be at peace within it. When you stop struggling against life and settle into this moment, the fullness you were chasing is simply here.

  1. Pick one thing you keep almost buying and leave it unbought today. Feel the small hollow where the wanting was, and let it sit there without filling it.
  2. At dinner or on a call, stop steering the conversation toward what comes next. Let someone finish slowly, and stay in the room you are already in.
  3. When a deadline has you reaching past this hour into the next three, come back to the one task in front of you and do only that. The rest of the day is not happening yet.

What are you reaching for that you may already be standing in?
