Psalms 9:17 Meaning The Wicked Shall Be Turned Back

The wicked shall be turned back to Sheol, even all the nations that forget God.

What does Psalms 9:17 mean?

Whatever in a person turns away from the higher consciousness sinks back into the lower mind, the ordinary physical mind that lives only in the senses and forgets there is anything above them. Hell is not a place waiting after death; it is that state of forgetting, the mind shut inside its cravings with no memory of the light in the pineal.

Religion built a burning pit to frighten people, but the pit is simply the carnal mind left to itself.

The crowds of scattered wants and habits inside one person, each pulling a different way, are the nations that forget. When they drift from the still center they fall by their own weight into that darkened mind. What restores them is turning inward again, where the higher self is remembered.

Hell: the lower carnal mind, the ordinary sense-bound mind that forgets the higher consciousness Nations: the scattered tribes of thought and craving a person carries within, each pulling its own way

Live Psalms 9:17 today

  1. Count how many times today you pick up your phone with no reason. Each time you catch it, put it down and look at something real for a few seconds instead.
  2. Next time you are with someone and your attention drifts to the screen, put it away and come back to them. Being half present is its own small misery for both of you.
  3. When a craving hits hard this evening, the snack, the purchase, the message you should not send, sit with it for two minutes without acting. Watch it rise and pass without owning you.

Which of the many wants pulling at you today had actually forgotten what you care about?

Buddhism

The hell realms are described as states of mind, not addresses. A mind consumed by craving and anger is already living in one, and it leaves the moment the mind changes.

Hindu · Bhagavad Gita 2

The one who chases every sense craving is pulled in a hundred directions like a boat on rough water. Steadiness comes when those pulls are gathered back in.

Sufism · Rumi

You have been wandering from house to house looking for what was waiting inside your own. The forgetting was the whole of the suffering.
