Revelation 11:18 · World English Bible

Revelation 11:18 Meaning The Nations Were Angry

The nations were angry, and your wrath came, as did the time for the dead to be judged, and to give your bondservants the prophets, their reward, as well as to the saints, and those who fear your name, to the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.

What does Revelation 11:18 mean?

One divine power stands behind all of this, and whether it comes as reward or as destruction depends on how a person has used it. The dead are those who never turned inward, who kept no spiritual connection; their judging is simply the state of a mind that let its own light go unused.

Esoteric

One divine power stands behind all of this, and whether it comes as reward or as destruction depends on how a person has used it. The dead are those who never turned inward, who kept no spiritual connection; their judging is simply the state of a mind that let its own light go unused. The saints are the separated ones, the parts of consciousness pulled clear of the noise and kept for the higher work.

Those who destroy the earth destroy their own mind, wearing down the very ground where awareness could have grown. The power that rewards the separated ones is the same power that undoes the mind-wreckers; it does not change, only the direction of its use.

The nations: the crowds of thoughts and impulses that rise up angry when the higher power stirs The dead: those without meditation, minds that kept no living spiritual connection The saints: the separated ones, the parts of consciousness lifted clear of the noise for higher work Name: the way itself, the inner path, not a spoken word The earth: the mind, the ground where awareness either grows or is worn down

Live Revelation 11:18 today

  1. Give fifteen minutes today to the inside of your life, sitting quietly, writing a page, praying, something that is not consumption. A mind that is never visited slowly goes dark.
  2. Spend one hour today with your attention aimed at building something or someone up rather than wearing it down, a kind message instead of a cutting one, repair instead of a complaint.
  3. When you feel the urge to tear something down under pressure, a person's reputation, your own work, a plan you resent, pause and remember that the ground you are wrecking is the one you live on.

Am I using my energy today to grow something, or to wear something away?

Dhammapada

By yourself the harm is done and by yourself it is undone. The deed and its result are not two separate events, they ripen in the same person.

Bhagavad Gita

The same self can be your closest friend or your worst enemy, depending on which way you turn it. The power does not change, only the direction of its use.

Judaism · Pirkei Avot

The teaching says the reward of a good act is the act itself, and the cost of a wrong one is the same. A life is paid out in the currency it was lived in.
