Revelation 12:1 · World English Bible

Revelation 12:1 Meaning A Great Sign Was Seen in Heaven

A great sign was seen in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.

What does Revelation 12:1 mean?

The woman clothed in the sun is the soul robed in full spiritual light, standing in the heaven that is the higher region of a person's own mind. She wears the sun as her garment because her nature is now solar, radiant from within rather than lit from without, and she has set the moon beneath her feet, meaning she has mastered the reflected and changing light of the emotions and the lower psychic tides that once ruled her.

What was above her she now stands upon.

The number 12 crowning her head is the full circle of spiritual completeness, the 12 powers of the zodiac and the 12 faculties gathered and reigning as one. This is the inner being come to maturity, the light-body of a person crowned with wholeness and standing over everything it used to serve.

Live Revelation 12:1 today

  1. When a mood arrives today, flat, irritable, anxious, say to yourself that you have a mood rather than that you are one, and go on with the next thing anyway.
  2. In one conversation, let someone's tone land without matching it. You are not swallowing anything, you are just refusing to hand over the controls.
  3. When your phone offers you a reason to feel small today, a comparison, a number, a silence where you wanted a reply, set it down for five minutes and come back from your own light instead of its glow.

What has been standing over me that I am actually able to stand on?

The same truth in other traditions

Buddhism · Dhammapada

The one who has mastered himself is greater than the one who has conquered a thousand people in battle. The victory is over what used to move you around.

Stoicism · Epictetus

He taught that nothing outside your own response has authority over you. Once that lands, the moods and reactions that used to run your day are under your feet instead of over your head.

Hinduism · Upanishads

The teaching says that you are that: the reality you keep searching for outside yourself is what you already are. The light is not borrowed from anywhere.
