Revelation 13:16 Meaning He Causes All

He causes all, the small and the great, the rich and the poor, and the free and the slave, to be given marks on their right hands, or on their foreheads;

What does Revelation 13:16 mean?

The mark is not ink pressed on skin or a code scanned at a till but a state of consciousness, the animal nature claiming a person and stamping its ownership on the body. The beast is the lower self acting out, and its brand falls on the 2 places where a person acts and a person sees, so that both the doing and the seeing come under the sense-bound self rather than the spirit above it.

The forehead is the brow where the single inner eye should open, the seat of vision behind the sockets, and a mark there means thought itself is owned by the lower mind, the pineal shuttered while the outward senses rule. Small and great, rich and bond, no station escapes it, because this is not an economy imposed from outside but the animal mind pressing its claim from within, sealing sight and action to itself.

Mark: the beast-nature stamping its ownership on a person, a state of consciousness rather than any brand on the flesh Forehead: the brow and the single inner eye that should open there, sealed shut when the sense-bound self owns one's sight

Live Revelation 13:16 today

  1. Look at the first thing your eyes and hands go to when you wake up today. Whatever that is has a claim on your attention, and seeing the claim clearly is how you start taking it back.
  2. Keep your phone face down and out of reach during one conversation today. Give the person in front of you the eyes you usually give the screen.
  3. In a stretch of waiting, a line, a commute, a hold on a call, let yourself be bored rather than reaching for something. Ten minutes of nothing teaches you how strong the pull really is.

What owns your attention before you have even chosen to give it?

Dhammapada

All that we are arises from what we have thought, and our life is shaped by the mind as a wheel follows the ox. What stamps your thinking stamps everything your hands do.

Stoicism · Epictetus

Whoever controls what you want controls you. Look at what you cannot stop reaching for and you will see who holds the papers.

Hinduism · Upanishads

As is a person's desire, so is their will; as their will, so their deeds. The seeing comes first, and the doing follows it like a shadow.
