Revelation 20:11 · World English Bible

Revelation 20:11 Meaning I Saw a Great White Throne

I saw a great white throne, and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. There was found no place for them.

What does Revelation 20:11 mean?

Pure awareness seated in the crown holds no color and takes no side, and before that clear seat the whole divided world dissolves. Earth is the body-consciousness and heaven the mind-consciousness, the 2 halves a person lives between; both flee because in the light of the seated Self there is nothing left to stand on and nothing left to grasp.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

Pure awareness seated in the crown holds no color and takes no side, and before that clear seat the whole divided world dissolves. Earth is the body-consciousness and heaven the mind-consciousness, the 2 halves a person lives between; both flee because in the light of the seated Self there is nothing left to stand on and nothing left to grasp. No place is found for them because place itself belonged to the split.

What remains when the pairs vanish is the one that was watching all along, needing no ground beneath it.

Great white throne: the seat of pure awareness in the crown of the head, colorless and taking no side. Earth: the body-consciousness, the sense of being a solid physical self. Heaven: the mind-consciousness, the realm of thought that seems the opposite of the body.

Live Revelation 20:11 today

  1. Sit quietly for a few minutes and let your thoughts and your body both just be there, without picking a side between them. You are the one in which both appear.
  2. In a disagreement today, hold off on being for or against for one more minute than feels comfortable. See what you can see from the place that has not chosen yet.
  3. When you get pulled into either or thinking under pressure, me or them, win or lose, pause and ask whether the split is real or just the shape your hurry made. Often there is no ground under it at all.

What are you standing on when you stop taking sides?

The same truth in other traditions

Hinduism, Mandukya Upanishad

Beyond waking, dreaming, and deep sleep there is the fourth, the pure awareness in which all three appear. In its light the division between body and mind has nothing left to stand on.

Zen

Not two, the teachers say. The clean seeing that arrives is colorless and takes no side, and the pairs we lived between simply have no footing in it.

Tao Te Ching 1

The Way that can be named is not the Way. Give it a name and you have already split the world; let the names go and nothing is divided.
