Romans 6:9 Meaning Knowing That Christ

knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over him!

What does Romans 6:9 mean?

There is that in you which was never born and therefore can never die. The mind cannot grasp this, because the mind knows only form, and every form arises and passes.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

There is that in you which was never born and therefore can never die. The mind cannot grasp this, because the mind knows only form, and every form arises and passes. But you are not first a form. You are the awareness in which all forms come and go, and awareness has no birthday and no ending.

When a human being awakens fully to this, death loses its dominion. Not because the body will not fall away, for it will, but because you no longer mistake yourself for the body. Death has power only over what can die, and once you know yourself as the deathless presence beneath all form, the fear at the very root of the ego quietly dissolves.

  1. Tonight, sit still for three minutes and feel that the awareness watching your thoughts is not itself a thought. It has no age and no shape, and it has been there under every year of your life.
  2. With someone older, or someone sick, let yourself be with them without rushing past the subject. Fear quiets when it is allowed in the room instead of managed from a distance.
  3. When something small ends badly, a project killed, a plan canceled, a phone that dies, feel how fast the threat response fires. Then see that nothing in you was actually touched by it.

If the part of you that cannot be lost is already here, what are you so afraid of losing?

Bhagavad Gita 2

Weapons cannot cut it, fire cannot burn it. What you essentially are was never born and will not end, whatever happens to the body that carries it.

Tao Te Ching 16

Forms rise and return, but the source they come from does not come and go. Rest there and you are no longer shaken by every change.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

Everything in the world is in the middle of changing into something else. Death is part of that turning, not an enemy standing outside it.
