But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

What does Romans 8:11 mean?

There is a presence within you that is not made of flesh and does not die when the body dies. It is the life animating your form, the awareness looking out through your eyes, the formless consciousness that gives rise to all living things.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

There is a presence within you that is not made of flesh and does not die when the body dies. It is the life animating your form, the awareness looking out through your eyes, the formless consciousness that gives rise to all living things. It dwells in you now.

When you turn attention inward and feel the subtle aliveness in your hands, your chest, your whole body, you sense that presence directly. The body ceases to be merely a physical object and becomes filled with life, quickened from within. This does not wait for after death; it happens the moment awareness inhabits the body you are living in.

SUFISM

Sufism

The heart that feels dead inside, cold and past reviving, is tempted to despair, and despair is its own quiet sin, a way of calling the darkness stronger than the light. The cure is to stop staring at the deadness and turn toward the guest already living within, the same power that once called life out of a tomb.

An empty house feels abandoned until one notices the fire still burning in its hearth. This presence is not a distant helper but a resident. And the full waking of the body stays ahead as a promise, guaranteed by the One who has already moved in.

Live Romans 8:11 today

  1. Before you get out of bed, keep your eyes closed and feel your hands from the inside. That faint buzz of life is not something you made.
  2. Hug someone you live with and stay one second longer than usual. Feel the warmth of a living body instead of just completing the gesture.
  3. In a tense meeting or call, put your attention into your feet and your breathing while you listen. You will be steadier, and the room will feel it.

When was the last time I felt my own body from the inside, not just used it?

Taoism · Chuang Tzu

Life is a breath borrowed for a while. Feel it moving in you and you stop grabbing at it, because it was never yours to hold.

Buddhism

Bring attention into the body, into the hands, the breath, the warmth. That simple turning inward is where the path actually begins.

Hinduism · Upanishads

The life in you is the same life in everything. It is smaller than small and larger than large, and it is already here.
