Ruth 1:16 Meaning Ruth Said

Ruth said, “Don’t urge me to leave you, and to return from following you, for where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God my God.

What does Ruth 1:16 mean?

A destiny dates from the moment the road back is closed, not from the years of feeling that preceded it. Part of every day goes to weighing the road left open behind you, and that weighing drains the energy the road ahead demands.

A destiny dates from the moment the road back is closed, not from the years of feeling that preceded it.

Part of every day goes to weighing the road left open behind you, and that weighing drains the energy the road ahead demands. Until it is closed, what looks like devotion is a preference, and a preference gives way under the first real hardship.

What makes this one hold is the identity underneath it. Taking on a people and a God before there is any evidence either will receive you sets the state you wake in, and the state decides what you are willing to do at dawn in someone else's field. Those dawns compound. Anyone who had kept an exit would have used it the first hungry week, and the line that came out of staying would belong to another name.

Live Ruth 1:16 today

  1. Pick the one thing you keep half deciding, the message you have not sent, the habit you keep leaving a loophole in, and close the loophole today in a way you can point at, delete the app, send the text, book the thing.
  2. Tell one person your decision out loud, plainly, no softening clause at the end. Saying it to a face makes it harder to quietly revise tonight.
  3. When the day turns against you, the meeting goes badly or the commute eats an hour, catch yourself reaching for the exit you kept open and stay in the room anyway, just for that hour.

What exit am I keeping open, and how much of my energy does guarding it quietly cost me?
