Song of Solomon 2:12 · World English Bible
The flowers appear on the earth. The time of the singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.
The awakening of the soul shows itself as flowers breaking through the earth of the body, the first visible signs that consciousness has risen from its long winter. The earth is the flesh, and the blossoms are the fresh states of awareness opening in a person once the cold has passed.

ESOTERIC
The awakening of the soul shows itself as flowers breaking through the earth of the body, the first visible signs that consciousness has risen from its long winter. The earth is the flesh, and the blossoms are the fresh states of awareness opening in a person once the cold has passed. The singing birds are thoughts rising in joy rather than fear, and the voice of the turtledove is the gentle inner calling of the spirit, faint at first, now clearly heard across the whole inner land.
Every image here is the same event told in flowers, in song, in the returning dove: the life within has come back, and the person hears his own spirit speaking again.
Flowers: the fresh states of awareness opening in a person once the soul's winter has passed Earth: the flesh, the ground of the body from which new consciousness rises Singing birds: thoughts lifting in joy, the mind quickened and glad rather than fearful Voice of the turtle: the gentle inner call of the spirit, the dove's soft note heard within the land of the self

What soft thing has been saying something to me that I keep turning the volume down on?
In spring, hundreds of flowers. The awakening is not an idea about awakening, it is the plain fact of blossoms.
The soft voice is the one that carries. What is real in you speaks quietly, which is why you have to get still to hear it.
There is a voice that does not use words, and the only thing it asks is that you stop talking long enough. When you do, you hear it has been calling the whole time.
