Song of Solomon 2:16 · World English Bible
My beloved is mine, and I am his. He browses among the lilies.
When two people truly meet, something deeper than personality recognizes itself. To say my beloved is mine and I am his is not the ego grasping to complete its own image.
From the Ego v. Being reading below.
The same verse, read by 2 traditions.

EGO & BEING
When two people truly meet, something deeper than personality recognizes itself. To say my beloved is mine and I am his is not the ego grasping to complete its own image. It is the boundary that made you seem separate falling away, the moment you sense the same aware presence looking back through another's eyes.
Love that feeds among the lilies needs nothing and takes nothing, resting in the simple aliveness of this moment. You belong to each other not because one possesses the other, but because the same living presence is awake in you both, and love is the recognition of that one life in another form.

SUFISM
Two claims lean on each other here, mine and his, until it is hard to say who first belonged to whom. That is love's secret: the longing a person feels for the Beloved was placed in him by the Beloved, so the wanting is already a kind of answer. The one who seems to reach was being drawn all along.
The fault love must guard against is trying to possess, to cage what it treasures. The cure is to hold with an open hand, the way one lets a loved one wander freely among the lilies.
Ego v. Being lens
Who could you meet today without wanting anything from them?
The one who sees the same self in every being stops being afraid, because there is no longer anyone to defend against.
Lovers do not finally meet somewhere. They were in each other all along.
Two mirrors facing each other with nothing in between. There is only one light, reflecting.
