Song of Solomon 5:8 · World English Bible
I adjure you, daughters of Jerusalem, If you find my beloved, that you tell him that I am faint with love.
This is the soul aching for union with its own higher nature, the beloved who is not another person but the inner light the seeker has tasted and then lost from sight. The daughters of Jerusalem are the faculties gathered in the house of peace within, charged to carry word between the longing self and the source it seeks.

ESOTERIC
This is the soul aching for union with its own higher nature, the beloved who is not another person but the inner light the seeker has tasted and then lost from sight. The daughters of Jerusalem are the faculties gathered in the house of peace within, charged to carry word between the longing self and the source it seeks. To be sick of love is to burn with the pull upward when the object of that pull has withdrawn behind the veil.
The longing itself is the movement of the lower toward the higher, an ache already the beginning of return. What feels like sickness is the soul refusing to settle for less than the union it remembers.
Daughters of Jerusalem: the inner faculties gathered in the city of peace within a person Jerusalem: the seat of peace in consciousness, the inner city where the faculties dwell Beloved: the higher self and inner light the seeker has known and now yearns to rejoin

What have you been numbing lately that might actually be homesickness?
The reed flute cries because it was cut from the reed bed, and that cry is the only music it has. The pain of separation is not a flaw in the longing, it is proof the reed remembers where it grew.
The one who has tasted steadiness within keeps returning the restless mind to it, again and again, like leading a wandering animal home. The pull back is itself the practice.
To seek the way is already to be walking it, because the thing you are looking for is what is doing the looking.
