Yahweh, your God, is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing.
What you are seeking is not far away in the sky. It is in the midst of you, the living presence at the very center of your being, closer than your own breath.

EGO & BEING
What you are seeking is not far away in the sky. It is in the midst of you, the living presence at the very center of your being, closer than your own breath. You do not have to earn it or reach it. You have only to grow still enough to feel it stirring beneath your thoughts.
And when you do turn inward and become truly present, a quiet joy rises in you for no reason at all, an aliveness that feels almost like being sung over from within. That joy has no outer cause. It is simply what you feel when you stop looking outward and rest your attention in the aliveness at your own center.

BUDDHISM
Saraṇa: Refuge A refuge is the shelter you go to and stand under. Here the shelter has walked into the middle of the city and stayed there, so no distance remains to be crossed to reach it. Strength belongs to the point: a roof counts as shelter only if it holds when the storm arrives, and this one is named mighty to save.
Muditā: Gladness at another's good fortune Muditā is delight in someone else's welfare. The same voice that had announced the day of burning now stands over the restored city glad, and the gladness is pointed at these people; to be rejoiced over is a larger thing than to be spared. Picture a parent watching a child across a room, pleased and wanting nothing further, and you have the look on the face of the one standing among them.
Mettā: Loving-kindness Mettā is the wish for another's welfare. Being calmed inside someone's love is a mother settling a frightened child, which is the old image for boundless goodwill: she offers the child no argument against its fear, she holds it until the fear drains. Nothing is required of the slack hands first, and no repair is demanded as the price of the quiet; the love itself does the quieting.
Passaddhi: Tranquility Passaddhi is the settling of a stirred-up body and mind. It reaches people whose whole posture had been braced for a blow, and the bracing is what leaves them; the danger passed some time ago, but the body is the last part to hear it. Shoulders drop when the news finally turns good, and that drop is the work being done here.
Pīti: Joy that overflows Pīti is gladness strong enough to spill into the body. Joy that ends in singing has gone past the point where it can be held in, the way a person hums while working with no thought of an audience. Rescue arrives with a voice attached, and the last sound heard over a people who had counted themselves finished is someone singing about them.

CYBERNETICS
The power that saves a person works from inside, at the center of who he takes himself to be, not from somewhere overhead to be earned. A steady resource lives there, set on rescue, stronger than any fear raised against it.
What surprises most people is the warmth. Many carry an inner voice that scolds every mistake and assume the deepest thing in them is a critic. That presence does the opposite. It delights in a person and hums over his days the way someone sings above a crib. A self-image fed on being cherished settles a life more surely than scolding ever could.

AWARENESS
A God who sings is a very different proposition from a God who keeps accounts, and the mind cannot hold both, so it usually chooses the accountant and calls that reverence.
Among you means inside, closer than the breath, so searching the sky is a way of missing. Calm of this kind arrives without effort; love settles no one by argument, it removes the need to defend. Sit still long enough for thought to lose interest, and something is already singing under the noise, and it has not been waiting for anyone to become worthy.
Ego v. Being lens
What have I been hoping the outside world would give me that is already here, quietly, in me?
The reality you long for is seated in the space within your own heart, nearer than anything you could travel to. It is found by turning in, not by going out.
You have been knocking from the inside all along. The one you are searching for is doing the searching.
When you finally sit still and want nothing, an ordinary morning becomes enough. The joy was not waiting on anything you had to fetch.
