SUFISM
Ṭalab: Seeking The word names the search itself, before anything gets found. Someone who keeps looking is already being changed by the looking, in what they give their hours to and what they let go of. The search has no finish line where a person arrives and stops, and that keeps a whole life pointed one direction instead of scattered.
Whoever comes to me walking, I come to them running: the seeker is answered before arriving The Prophet reported these as God's own words. They meet the fear sitting under most seeking, that a person is calling into an empty room with nobody on the other end. The teaching says the movement runs both ways, and that a small step made in earnest is being answered while it is still being taken.
No power and no strength except with God: strength is on loan The line gets repeated constantly in ordinary Muslim life. It meets the moment when someone takes stock of what they can carry and finds it thin. The words shift the weight rather than leaving a person stuck under it: the strength was never stored inside them, and asking for it is the ordinary way it shows up.
Wajh Allāh: The face of God, his own self The Quran speaks of people who want His face and nothing besides. Gifts are easy to want: rescue, safety, a good outcome, enough strength for the next stretch. Wanting the giver and not the packages is a different appetite, and it holds up on the days when nothing arrives, because the one wanted is still there.
Dhikr: Remembrance The practice is plain repetition, the name kept on the tongue and in the chest through unremarkable hours. It answers the problem that feeling runs out; nobody stays moved for long, and the high moments fade by evening. Remembrance carries the seeking across the flat stretches, so a day with no feeling in it is still a day spent facing the same direction.
Sufism lens
Where in today am I quietly trying to run on strength I was never meant to supply myself?
The way is not reached by piling up more and more. It is approached by setting things down, day after day, until the direction itself becomes the life.
The divine says that whoever turns toward it, even with little, is met and held. The turning is answered from the other side.
Practice is not a staircase to enlightenment that you climb and then leave. Sitting every ordinary morning, with no feeling in it, is already the thing itself.
