1 John 5:20 Meaning We Know That the Son of God

We know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

What does 1 John 5:20 mean?

A light comes into a person that was always there, waiting to be recognized. It arrives as understanding, not the piling up of facts, but a quiet seeing that the deepest part of someone and the source of all life were never separate.

Ego v. Being

A light comes into a person that was always there, waiting to be recognized. It arrives as understanding, not the piling up of facts, but a quiet seeing that the deepest part of someone and the source of all life were never separate. When that seeing opens, a person stops standing outside, searching for what lasts. They come to rest inside it.

Beneath every passing thought and feeling, an aliveness holds steady, never born and unable to end. To know it is to come home to what has carried you all along.

SUFISM

Sufism

A light has come that lets the eye tell the real from the counterfeit, healing the heart's old habit of loving shadows and calling them solid. Understanding is handed over so a person can stop settling for the imitation.

Staying inside that light, rather than drifting back to the dark, keeps the gift of clear sight in use. And the One who is true is not merely seen from a distance. The one who knows Him is held inside Him, so that truly knowing Him is already sharing the life that never ends.

  1. On your commute, put the podcast on pause for a few minutes and just watch the world go by. Something in you is watching, and it is not in a hurry.
  2. Tell one person today something true about your life rather than the summary version. Honesty puts you back inside your own life instead of describing it from outside.
  3. When a hard feeling arrives, let it be there without fixing it or posting about it. Feelings move through. The part of you watching them does not move.

What in me has stayed the same through every version of my life so far?
