End here translates a word for the target something was aimed at, not the point where it stops. Faith was never the prize itself, only trust in Christ, aimed the whole time at rescue. That rescue is being handed over now, even while it stays kept safe for the last day.

Souls means the whole living person, not a ghost stowed inside a body. What that person is rescued from is God's own judgment. Receiving is the one action left on your side, and it leaves a person holding out both hands while God does the giving.

Live 1 Peter 1:9 today

  1. Hold something you want with open hands for one day: the reply, the result, the test. Do your part, then stop checking the screen for it every ten minutes.
  2. Let someone give you something without immediately evening the score, a meal, a favor, a ride. Say thank you and leave it unpaid, which is harder than it sounds.
  3. When you catch yourself grading your own faith, how strong it feels, how well you are doing at it, turn the attention to what you are trusting instead. The point was never the quality of your grip.

What am I trying to earn that is being handed to me?

Bhagavad Gita 2

Act without clutching at the fruit of the action, since the outcome was never in your hands to begin with. Let go of the grasping and the thing is received rather than seized.
