1 Samuel 12:23 Meaning Moreover as for Me

Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against Yahweh in ceasing to pray for you: but I will instruct you in the good and the right way.

Being replaced hands a person two full-time occupations, and only one of them leaves anything behind.

Rejection comes with a job offer attached: injured party, a role with a case to maintain and an audience to keep briefed. The prophet just traded for a king declines it. Intercession runs on the same attention resentment would need, so the grievance gets no staff, and identity settles wherever the work goes.

Calling the abandonment of them a sin against Yahweh shuts the exit, and a decision with no retreat behind it is the only kind that holds when the feelings argue later. A man who takes the injured post instead spends his remaining years maintaining a case while the people who replaced him grow up untaught.

Live 1 Samuel 12:23 today

  1. When you are passed over or replaced, give the complaint no airtime today, not even the version you rehearse alone in the car. Put that same half hour into something useful for the person or project that moved past you.
  2. Say one genuinely good thing about whoever took your place, out loud, to someone else. It is harder than it sounds and it quietly closes the door on the grudge.
  3. If a group chat or a meeting hands you an easy chance to make your case, let it pass and keep helping instead. Teaching whoever comes next leaves something behind, a grievance does not.

Am I building a case or building something?

When someone wrongs you, the only question left is what kind of person you will be next. Marcus says keep doing the good thing and refuse the long career of being injured.

Carrying the thought he harmed me is what keeps the harm alive. Set the thought down and the hatred has nothing left to feed on.

Repay injury with ordinary kindness and the quarrel runs out of fuel. The sage keeps working and does not keep accounts.
