MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The voice speaks to Peter, whose name means rock, the settled foundation in a man, and it commands him to rise and eat what he had always called forbidden. The unclean creatures are not animals. They are experiences he has ruled out, marked off, judged as beneath him or too low to touch. To kill and eat them is to stop refusing them, to take every experience in as clean, because the same power made all of it and nothing it made is to be quibbled over.

Rise means lift out of the smallness that draws lines around what may be used. Eat means take it fully into yourself, assume it, let it become part of what you are. No taboo protects you and no avoidance makes you holier. The man who obeys this inner voice accepts all that comes as given by the one source, and that unbroken acceptance is what feeds him and raises him.

Live Acts 10:13 today

  1. Take the chore you keep avoiding today, the dishes, the form, the unanswered message, and do it without the inner complaint. Just let it be part of your life.
  2. Spend time with someone you'd normally keep at arm's length, a coworker, a relative, a person whose politics grate. Let them in as fully human instead of sorted into a box.
  3. When something lands on your day that you didn't want, take it in instead of pushing it off. Say okay, this too, and let it feed you rather than drain you.

What have I been ruling out of my life that was never actually unclean?
