Acts 5:3 · World English Bible
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the price of the land?
The lie here is aimed at the spirit that gives, and that is what makes it lethal. Ananias keeps back part of the price and pretends he kept back nothing, offering a rigged version of himself to the very source of generosity.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
The lie here is aimed at the spirit that gives, and that is what makes it lethal. Ananias keeps back part of the price and pretends he kept back nothing, offering a rigged version of himself to the very source of generosity. Deceit against what sustains you is the oldest way of poisoning your own well.
His sin is not the withholding but the pretense laid over it. The pretense is the poison. He could have given a portion openly and stood clean, yet instead he manufactures an appearance, and the manufactured self corrupts him. To lie to the animating spirit of things is to let malevolence fill the space where honesty should sit. A man who fakes his offering has already begun to rot from within.
Clinical Psychology lens
What version of yourself are you maintaining that you would be relieved to put down?
A person who lies turns away from the nature of things and quietly sets themselves against the whole. The damage lands first on the liar.
For someone who steps over one truth and feels nothing, there is no wrong left they will not do. The small permission is where it starts.
The one who gives without the recipient knowing who gave is praised above the showiest benefactor. The quiet gift is the one that counts.
