The restless outward activity of the mind sets out to hunt down the inner way and drag it back up under the rule of the higher self, and this hunter is the very faculty that spirit is about to convert. Damascus is activity, the busy left-brain motion that persecutes before it is turned.

ESOTERIC
The restless outward activity of the mind sets out to hunt down the inner way and drag it back up under the rule of the higher self, and this hunter is the very faculty that spirit is about to convert. Damascus is activity, the busy left-brain motion that persecutes before it is turned. This way is the narrow inward path of meditation that few ever find, the men and women within a person its scattered thoughts and feelings. The seeker means to bind them and haul them to Jerusalem, which is your own higher consciousness, the holy state and the seat of the pineal. Even the persecuting energy is aimed, unknowing, at the crown, and on that road the hunter of the inner way is itself remade.
The driving, hunting activity of the mind is being led, against its own intent, toward the higher consciousness where it will be transformed.

Where is your restlessness actually trying to take you?
The one who sets out to capture the ox discovers, somewhere on the road, that the ox was never separate from him. The chase itself is what wears the chaser down into stillness.
What you are hunting for is also hunting you. The restless search is the beloved's own pull, felt from the wrong end.
The same mind that drags a person around is the only instrument that can carry them home. Trained, it is the best friend; untrained, the hardest enemy. Either way, there is nothing else to work with.
