What does Colossians 1:12 mean?
The Father is the highest principle within, the origin at the crown of a person from which all lower states descend, and the inheritance is not a reward that arrives later but the birthright already present in every consciousness. To be made fit for it is the inner ripening by which the awareness grows able to hold its own light without turning away.

Light here is understanding itself, the illumination that fills the body when the higher centers open.
The saints in light are the awakened states of mind, the parts of a person that have risen out of the darkness of the senses into clear seeing. The plain sense is that a person is being prepared to receive an understanding that was always their own, waiting in the higher self to be claimed.
