Colossians 1:23 Meaning If It Is So That You Continue

if it is so that you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the Good News which you heard, which is being proclaimed in all creation under heaven, of which I, Paul, was made a servant.

What does Colossians 1:23 mean?

Grounded and settled describes an inner steadiness, the awakened conviction rooted so deep in the body that the shifting weather of the lower mind cannot pull it loose. To be moved away is to let the currents of ordinary thought carry the center off its foundation.

Esoteric

Grounded and settled describes an inner steadiness, the awakened conviction rooted so deep in the body that the shifting weather of the lower mind cannot pull it loose. To be moved away is to let the currents of ordinary thought carry the center off its foundation. Every creature under heaven is every living faculty within a person beneath the crown of the head, and to each of them the good news has already been sounded.

The steady state holds when the higher understanding is planted firmly enough in a person that daily agitation no longer uproots it. Heaven here is the head, the region above, and the message has reached down into every part of the being that lives below it.

Heaven: the head and its high crown, the upper region of consciousness in a person Creature under heaven: every living faculty of the body beneath the head, each part that can receive the inner word

Live Colossians 1:23 today

  1. Before you touch your phone in the morning, sit still for a minute and feel your feet on the floor. Let the day arrive to something already steady instead of pulling you into itself.
  2. When a friend tells you their news, good or bad, stay settled while you listen. You can care fully without letting their weather become your weather.
  3. In the middle of a tense meeting or a traffic jam, return to your own breath for three slow rounds. Nothing out there changes, and that is the point: your center was never out there.

What was it today that pulled you off your own ground, and how quickly did you know it was happening?

Tao Te Ching 16

Return to the root and stay there. Things rush and swirl on the surface, but the one who is settled at the center watches the churning without being carried off by it.

Bhagavad Gita 6

A lamp in a windless place does not flicker. A mind steadied in itself holds its light no matter what weather moves through the day.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

Things outside you cannot reach the part of you that judges. Keep that inner ground firm and the noise around it stays only noise.
