MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The mystery guarded for ages is near. Christ in you is the imagination housed in every ordinary person, the power that turns what is felt within into what shows up without. It waited unnamed in the outsider, the one who never suspected he carried the maker of his world inside his own chest.

This inner power is called the hope of glory because it is the only ground on which a better life can stand. A man does not wait on the sky or on other people. The riches were always his, folded up in the fact that whatever he assumes and feels as done begins to press outward into event. The kingdom a person hopes for never arrives from a distance. It sits already in him as the imagination that gives him everything he sees.

SUFISM

Sufism

A treasure had been buried so long that the ones who owned the field never guessed what lay under their feet. The wonder is not that far-off strangers were told, but where the treasure was hidden: inside them. The heart that hunts for worth in status or the good opinion of others keeps digging in the wrong ground.

The cure is to stop searching outward and grow quiet enough to sense the guest already within. This stays a hope, a glory still coming, not a prize already spent. Yet the One who is the promise is also, right now, the nearness that makes it possible to wait.

Live Colossians 1:27 today

  1. Tonight, before sleep, stop asking for the thing you want and feel what it is like to already have it. Stay in that feeling for a few minutes, the way you would relax into a warm bath, then let yourself drift off from there.
  2. When someone you love is stuck waiting on a call, a result, a person who has not come through, talk with them about the life they want as if it were settled. Let the whole conversation live in that tense.
  3. When you catch yourself refreshing something, email, a text thread, a status, waiting for the outside to save the day, close it. Take one breath and feel the thing already done, then go back to whatever is actually in front of you.

What are you still waiting to be given that you could begin to feel is already yours?

The teaching says the one you are looking for is seated in the cave of your own heart, smaller than small and larger than large. Nobody has to travel to reach it.

Tao Te Ching 47

You do not need to go out the door to know the world. The one who keeps running outward to find it gets further from the thing he wants.
