Daniel 4:16 · World English Bible
Let his heart be changed from man’s, and let an animal’s heart be given to him. Then let seven times pass over him.
This is God descended into human experience, the ruling mind brought down from its high estate into the dull, unknowing condition of the beast, which is man asleep to who he is. The heart changed from a man's to a beast's is awareness forgetting itself, living by appetite and circumstance, no longer knowing it is the power behind its own world.

MANIFESTATION
This is God descended into human experience, the ruling mind brought down from its high estate into the dull, unknowing condition of the beast, which is man asleep to who he is. The heart changed from a man's to a beast's is awareness forgetting itself, living by appetite and circumstance, no longer knowing it is the power behind its own world.
The seven times passing over him are the full stretch of experience a person must endure in that forgetting, the whole cycle of trial before he wakes. Seven here is completeness, the appointed measure run to its end. A person passes through this lowering not as punishment but as the way the maker comes down into the made and lives it through. When the seven times are finished, the beast-mind lifts and knows itself as God again. What was brought low is the very self that will rise fully aware.

The unborn and changeless takes on a body and enters the world of birth and forgetting, not because it is forced to, but because that is how it moves through what it made.
The ox-herding pictures start with a boy who has lost his ox and does not know the way home. The whole long search is him walking back into something he never actually left.
The reed cries because it was cut from the reed bed, and that cry is the music. The ache of separation is the sound of something remembering where it came from.
