MANIFESTATION
One Lord means one awareness, not a favorite god chosen over others. The old command gathers a scattered people around a single point, and the point is the sense of being that lives in each of them. Behind every face runs the same current of "I am," undivided, answering to no rival outside itself.
A man who believes in two powers is always braced against the second one. He asks for good and guards against harm, and the guarding is itself a quiet vote for the harm. Oneness ends that. When the awareness a person lives from is felt as the only cause, nothing stands beside it to be feared or bargained with. The world he meets is the echo of that single voice.

SUFISM
Lā ilāha illā Allāh: No god but God, everything else loses the claim The line Muslims repeat most often begins by clearing the field before it names anyone. Most people carry a quiet list of things they answer to: money, someone's approval, their own good name. The first half of the line takes those off the seat, and only then does one name go there.
Tawḥīd: Holding God as one Al-Ghazali described this in layers: words on the tongue, then belief in the heart, then seeing everything arrive from one hand. Someone can recite the words for years while their week is still run by several masters. The change he describes is slow, and it happens when what a person says and what they lean on stop disagreeing.
Aḥadiyya: Oneness with nothing standing beside it Ibn Arabi used this word for a oneness that has no parts and no second. People often picture God as the largest item on a long list of items, which quietly leaves the list in charge. Once that picture goes, God stops being one more thing to fit in and becomes the ground the rest of it stands on.
Shirk khafī: Hidden idolatry The tradition calls it hidden because nobody builds statues anymore. It shows up as wanting to be seen doing good, or as checking a bank balance whenever fear rises. Giving it a name lets a person finally see the second master they had been serving without ever calling it that.
Dhikr: Remembrance, keeping God in mind Saying the name, out loud or under the breath, holds one thing present through a crowded day. Forgetting, rather than disbelief, is the ordinary trouble for most people. The repeating works like any daily practice and wears a groove, until the one you say you trust is the one on your mind at three in the afternoon.
Everything perishes except His face: one thing alone does not run out Al-Ghazali treats this line from the Quran as the far end of oneness. Everything a person leans on has an end date: health, work, the people they love, even the self doing the leaning. Seeing that does not make any of it worthless; it moves it off the one spot where only what lasts can stand.
Manifestation lens
Where today was I voting for the thing I said I did not want?
That which is everywhere and in everyone is one, not two, and you are that. Where there is no second, there is nothing left to fear.
The many return to one. A person who rests in that one is not torn between hoping for fortune and bracing for its opposite.
There is one current running under every face and every name. The whole of worry is the belief that something else is also at work.
