Ephesians 1:10 Meaning To an Administration of the Fullness

to an administration of the fullness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, in him.

What does Ephesians 1:10 mean?

The heart that divides the world into what matters and what does not is quietly playing God, keeping some things and discarding the rest. Its cure is to stop appointing itself the judge and to trust that nothing is wasted, that heaven and earth are being drawn together like scattered streams finding one sea.

The heart that divides the world into what matters and what does not is quietly playing God, keeping some things and discarding the rest. Its cure is to stop appointing itself the judge and to trust that nothing is wasted, that heaven and earth are being drawn together like scattered streams finding one sea.

God is present in that gathering. Every separate thing was always a single light broken across many surfaces, and when the time is full it will be read as one, so the person learns to see the whole already hidden in the parts.

Live Ephesians 1:10 today

  1. Take the part of today you would normally write off, the commute, the waiting room, the grocery line, and treat it as part of your real life rather than the gap between real parts.
  2. Spend time with the person you have filed as unimportant, the slow coworker, the relative who talks too long, and give them the same attention you would give someone useful to you.
  3. When a plan falls apart and the day goes sideways, hold off on calling it a loss. You are not the one who gets to decide what is wasted, and some of the best things arrive looking like interruptions.

Which part of my life have I quietly decided does not count?

Tao Te Ching 2

The opposites that look like enemies arise together and belong together. Dividing the world into what counts and what can be thrown away is where the trouble starts.

Hinduism · Isha Upanishad

One who sees all beings in himself, and himself in all beings, has nothing left to hate. The many are one reality read in many places.

Zen

Nothing is wasted, not the dull hour, not the interruption, not the detour. The whole is already present in the part if you stop sorting.
