Exodus 1:12 Meaning But the More They Afflicted Them

But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and the more they spread out. They started to dread the children of Israel.

What does Exodus 1:12 mean?

What pressure does to a people is decided by what they already believe about where they are going. Force applied to people who carry a promise about their future works like load on a muscle.

What pressure does to a people is decided by what they already believe about where they are going.

Force applied to people who carry a promise about their future works like load on a muscle. Pressure raises urgency, urgency raises intensity, and intensity inside a people whose purpose runs generational shows up as more of them. The same force on people who have accepted that their story is finished produces surrender, and the force is not the variable.

Dread runs the other side of it. Fear reads growth as threat, threat licenses harsher measures, and harsher measures feed the exact thing feared. Anyone governing from fear compounds the outcome they are trying to prevent, and their own reading of events leaves no available move except the one that makes it worse.

Live Exodus 1:12 today

  1. Think about the pressure sitting on you this week, the deadline, the money, the family thing. Say out loud what you still believe about where your life is going, and let the pressure be load rather than proof you are finished.
  2. With someone who is under it right now, do not minimize the weight. Remind them of what they are building, and watch how the same hard week reads differently from inside a future they still believe in.
  3. When you feel something or someone growing in a way that threatens you, a coworker doing well, a kid pulling away, pause before you tighten your grip. Fear almost always picks the move that makes the thing you fear arrive faster.

Is the pressure on you right now building something, or just proving a story you already decided?

What is rigid snaps under force, what is supple bends and lives. The hand that presses harder on the flexible thing only teaches it to spring back.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

He said the obstacle in the path becomes the path, that fire takes whatever is thrown on it and grows. The load is not the thing that decides you, your answer to it is.

Bhagavad Gita 2

Fear of loss is what scatters a person, not the loss itself. Acting from dread is how people bring about exactly what they were guarding against.
