Manna is the fine spiritual substance that appears in the body of its own accord once the lower cravings of Egypt are left behind, and the striving faculties do not recognize it at first because it has no shape the senses can name. The very word means what is it, and that bewilderment is exact: the higher food descends silently along the inner channel and the mind cannot classify what it has never made for itself. It is not gathered from the world but given, formed within during the night of quiet like dew that has become bread.
Moses is the drawn-out higher self who tells the faculties what they are tasting: the nourishment of spirit, the energy that keeps consciousness alive while it crosses the empty stretch between bondage and the promised inner land.
Manna: the fine spiritual substance that forms in the body on its own, the nourishment of the higher life
Bread: the sustaining energy given from within to feed consciousness on its passage
Children of Israel: the striving faculties of a person in transit, no longer enslaved yet not yet home
Moses: the drawn-out higher self that interprets and leads the inner powers through the wilderness
