Genesis 1:1 · World English Bible
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Before anything took shape there was the formless, the still and silent source out of which all things arise. Creation is not only an event in the distant past.
From the Ego v. Being reading below.
The same verse, read by 4 traditions.

EGO & BEING
Before anything took shape there was the formless, the still and silent source out of which all things arise. Creation is not only an event in the distant past. In every moment the world of form emerges out of that same unmanifested ground, the pure awareness in which heaven and earth appear.
This source is not far away or long ago. It is the presence within you now, deeper than every thought and every thing. When you become still enough to sense the aware space in which your life unfolds, you touch the beginning that is always here, the silence from which everything continually comes into being.

MANIFESTATION
Every beginning starts in the same place, in awareness itself. Before a house, a meeting, or a change of fortune shows up in the world, it is first conceived within as an inner scene. God here is your own I am, the consciousness that stands before anything and gives rise to it.
Heaven and earth name the two halves of one act. Heaven is the state imagined, the mood and picture held inside; earth is that same state made visible, hardened into circumstance. One produces the other as surely as thought precedes the thing. Creation is not finished and far off. It happens each time a person conceives a state within and lets it settle. The inner conception always comes first, and the outer world is its echo.

ESOTERIC
Heaven and earth are not 2 places but the 2 halves of a single person: the mind above and the body below, spirit and matter joined in one frame. Every awakening begins here, in the quiet moment consciousness first stirs and divides itself into an upper world of thought and a lower world of flesh, then sets out to reconcile them. The creation being described is your own coming into awareness, and it is happening now inside the one who reads it.
Heaven: the head and its realm of mind and spirit, the upper world of a person Earth: the body and its ground of flesh, the lower world where thought takes form

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
Order is spoken into chaos, and that speaking is the first act of everything that follows. The creating spirit here does not battle a monster or hack a body into land and sky, as the older myths around it did. It confronts the formless deep and, by word alone, calls forth a habitable world. That word is close kin to what the later tradition names the logos, the principle by which pattern is drawn out of the unformed. The making stays calm. Nothing is fought, and nothing is torn apart.
Every line of the book bends back toward this opening and forward from it, each part speaking to every other like the connected chambers of a single mind. What confronts the chaos and shapes it is what the ancients meant by the divine. When a person faces the swirling unknown and, through attention and speech, brings some corner of it into order, that person repeats the first sentence ever written.
Ego v. Being lens
What in my life would feel different if I let it begin in silence instead of in hurry?
The nameless is the origin of heaven and earth; the named is the mother of the ten thousand things. What cannot be spoken comes first, and everything speakable rises out of it.
Before the world there was only Being, one without a second, and from that silent fullness all names and forms poured out. What you are at your depth is that same ground.
Ask where a thought comes from and you find no place, only open space. That space is not empty of life; it is where every life begins, moment after moment.
