CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
There is a unity the mind fears, and it is the wrong one. A people gathered into a single tongue, bent on building upward toward safety, is the ego's dream of oneness through effort, many minds agreeing that the world outside is real and must be conquered by climbing. What the mind imagines it can do without limit is exactly what love would gently restrain, because a will unbound in the service of fear only raises higher the wall between the self and its brother.
The true oneness is not a tower the mind erects but the recognition that no separation was ever built at all. When a mind stops laboring to be safe and simply looks with love, it finds it was already whole, and the frantic project of protecting itself quietly ends.
The people, one in language: minds joined not in love but in a shared belief that the world is real and must be mastered from outside. The tower they begin to build, though unnamed here, is the ego's climb toward a safety it can never reach by effort. One language: the single conviction of separation that lets fearful minds agree on the same illusion.

CYBERNETICS
The staggering thing here is the reach of a picture held in common. When many minds carry the same clear image and speak of it in one tongue, the thing pictured stops being a wish and starts becoming a plan already under way. Imagination sets the target, and everything in a person bends toward it.
The builders had not laid a single stone that mattered yet; the tower stood finished in their minds first. That is how the mechanism works. Whatever a mind pictures vividly and agrees on without argument tends to come true, because nothing inside holds it back. A person who can see the goal that plainly has already begun to arrive at it.
Christian Psychology lens
What am I still building, hoping it will finally make me safe?
The sage does not strive, and so nothing is left undone. Forcing a thing upward past its nature is how it breaks.
The craving to secure and extend the self is the root of suffering, and no amount of building satisfies it, because the thing being protected was never solid.
We exhaust ourselves trying to control what was never ours, and find peace only in what already belongs to us, our own judgment.
